A spacious, residential Westport community

A quiet suburb about 3 miles outside of downtown Westport, Coleytown offers large, luxury homes on generous lots. With a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, the area is known for both its peaceful atmosphere and for being the home of late cinema icon, Paul Newman, who lived on a large, secluded property here. Realtor Jillian Klaff says the area is “not as congested as downtown Westport and has a more country feel in a beautiful section of town with its own flavor.” Klaff, currently with Coldwell Banker, has sold homes around Westport for 30 years and says homebuyers choose Coleytown over other neighborhoods for its expansive layout. “Properties are on 1 or more acres, but it is not too far from where all the action is. Residents enjoy all the special activities along with the rest of the town,” she adds. With highly rated schools, outdoor recreation and dining options within a few miles, the area offers a sense of privacy without having to travel far for amenities.

Sprawling residential lots in Coleytown

Coleytown homes often bear colonial or contemporary architecture, but homebuyers can also find large Cape Cods, luxury modern ranch styles and split levels. Homes tend to start at $735,000, which will generally secure around 2,400 square feet, three bedrooms and three bathrooms on just over 2 acres of land. Average prices range from $1.5 million to $4 million, though some newer, customized homes can surpass $10 million. “There are estate properties and antique homes here for people who favor bigger and more private lots, with room for pools and/or tennis courts,” Klaff says. Homes in the million-dollar price range tend to have added amenities like pools, outdoor entertainment spaces and spa areas. Properties often sit far from the roads and tucked under towering trees, which adds a layer of privacy and a sense of seclusion. Streets typically don’t have sidewalks, and residents may have to walk lengthy driveways to check their mail.
