Quiet living in North Westport, near South Watuppa Pond and Fall River

Westport is a town that combines small-town rural living and a coastal landscape. Its northern tip might be further away from the beaches, but North Westport offers proximity to South Watuppa Pond and an easier commute into the town of Fall River.

Large wooded lots and wide streets define the rural setting

North Westport is populated by clapboard colonials, ranch styles and upscale contemporary builds that range in price from $400,000 for two-bedroom homes to $900,000 for five-bedroom homes. Along the water, A-frame cabins are also popular. Most waterfront properties hover around $800,000 to $900,000 and have personal docks that stretch into South Watuppa Pond. It's rural living, with large yards shaded by mature trees and wide streets without sidewalks.

Outdoor fun and community sports bring neighbors together

North Westport is a neighborhood that celebrates its natural landscape. The Westport Land Conservation Trust protects pockets of undeveloped wilderness like the Headwaters Conservation Area, which offers 2.5 miles of hiking trails, a hunting ground and excellent birdwatching opportunities. South Watuppa Pond is a popular boating spot and hosts regular bass fishing tournaments. To go on an inner journey in nature, The Heron Education Center for the Human Spirit is a wildlife refuge and community garden that offers yoga and meditation classes. And a few miles south, there is a wide variety of beaches along the Massachusetts coast, some only accessible to Westport locals.

When North Westport residents want to have fun closer to home, the Westport Kartway go-kart track or the Holiday Lanes bowling alley are nearby options. And many residents enjoy heading over to the Russell Davis Athletic Fields, the home of the Westport United soccer team. “Westpoint United is a youth soccer league that’s hugely popular here,” explains Dana Stewart, the Recreation Director for the town of Westport. “Come game day, parents and friends gather around the field, and it's a big community event.”

Coffee shops, family restaurants and easy access to I-195

For eating and dining, there are many local places to choose from. Kathy’s Coffee Shop & Creamery is a local favorite for breakfast. And enjoy classic American fare at Kozy Nook, a family-owned restaurant that has been a staple of the area for nearly 50 years. If you want to pick up food to make dinner at home, Star Country Store & Deli is a small mom-and-pop corner store. For bigger groceries, Lees Market in the south is a popular option. But for more big brand shopping, residents have to head 6 miles east to North Dartmouth or 6 miles west to Fall River. Heading out of town is easy in North Westport, with easy access to Interstate 195 and Route 6.
