Often built from about 1900 to 1925 by local mining companies to provide housing for their employees, many homes in Neffs are well over a hundred years old. Though these boxy, traditional designs may have limited square footage, Ross says that homebuyers have often built onto them, adding outdoor patios and extra rooms over the years. Larger Craftsman homes built in the 1930s and '50s add architectural diversity to the community, along with more contemporary ranch-style homes built since 2010. Most properties in the center of town sit on closely spaced lots and sell from about $40,000 to $125,000, while those located further away often offer multi-acre lots can sell from about $175,000 to $350,000.
