"My clients appreciate Wolfhurst homes for their original brick fireplaces and old woodwork that you just can't find today for the same price," says Lyndsay Maynard, associate broker and owner of Harvey Goodman Realtor. With its proximity to Wheeling Creek, some federal lenders may require varying levels of flood insurance.

Bridgeport public schools within walking distance
Students in Wolfhurst may attend school in the Bridgeport Exempted Village School District, which is located right in the community. Bridgeport Elementary, Middle and High School are all part of the same complex and receive B-minus ratings from Niche. The school complex is within walking distance for some, and the high school has a relatively low student-to-teacher ratio of 12-to-1.
Families looking for a religious education can also enroll their children in the LifeWise Academy. Partnering with St. Paul's Lutheran Church, this program gives students at Bridgeport High the opportunity to leave school once a week to attend a bible class.
Local shopping and dining on National Road
Running through the middle of Wolfhurst, National Road is lined with several of the area's fixtures for shopping and dining. Country Crafts and Gifts is one of the few shops available in Wolfhurst itself, selling handmade artwork and goods that represent the Ohio Valley. Residents can find the closest grocery store, Riesbeck's, about a mile east in Brookside. Sonny Boy Family Restaurant has been serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner since 1965, with dishes like roast beef sandwiches and breakfast platters attracting a community of regulars. Just across the street, Sha Nay Nay's Pizza is another locally owned option. Longwell, who also works at Sha Nay Nay's, says that the square-shaped tray pizza and wings are particularly popular choices. For a relaxing drink, Vino di Piccin Winery & Tasting House selects grapes from across the Ohio Valley, uses traditional family recipes and also hosts live music performed by independent artists.
National Road is lined with locally-owned businesses like Country Crafts and Gifts in Wolfhurst.

Heading outdoors in the Ohio Valley
Residents will have to drive 8 miles in either direction to explore the surrounding landscape. Memorial Park in St. Clairsville offers multiple sports courts, a playground and a community pool. Newlin Falls Nature Trail also leads from the park past two small waterfalls along McMonies Run. Eight miles east past Wheeling, Oglebay Park is a massive space with more than 1,600 acres. The park has gardens, trails, and even a luxury resort. In addition to a large, rubberized playground, visitors can paddleboat on Schenk Lake or play a few rounds of golf on any of the park's 3 courses. Longwell says she likes to take her grandkids to Oglebay to visit the park's zoo or special events like the Festival of Lights. This drive-through holiday celebration lasts from November to February and attracts visitors from across the area, even out of state.

Getting around the Wolfhurst area
Located about 4 miles west of Wheeling, West Virginia, Wolfhurst residents can reach the city in about 12 minutes by taking National Road to Interstate 70. In the case of an emergency, WVU Wheeling Hospital is the closest hospital and is also located in Wheeling, about 6 miles away.
