White Oak West
Suburban Neighborhood in White Oak, Ohio
Hamilton County 45247
Longstanding homes meet new builds on half-acre plots
Raised ranch-style homes with low-pitched roofs cater to the neighborhood's sloping hills and typically include an attached garage and driveway. These, along with 1930s-era Cape Cods and bi-levels, are listed between $200,000 and $400,000. Newer housing options—including a brand-new development on Shadow Hawk Drive—line cul-de-sac streets branching out from the main roads and range from $435,000 to $570,000, with the largest models reaching up to $815,000. New Traditional homes and custom, open-concept builds feature large exterior windows, geometric roofs, or Queen Anne-style towers. Half-acre lots typically provide enough space for residents to build a pool, set up a trampoline or cultivate a garden in the backyard. A few private drives fully sequester houses from traffic-prone streets, granting residents another layer of privacy enhanced by the overarching canopies of oak and maple trees.
Games at Haubner Field
Haubner Field and St. James Athletic Fields unite the community for youth soccer, football and baseball games. Folks sit under shade at Habner while enjoying ample concessions and watching their Little League tots tee off. Nature lovers and adventurous kids spend hours under leafy shade at Mount Airy Forest's paved and unpaved trails, giant treehouse and disc golf course—all of which are 4.5 miles from White Oak West.Schools for White Oak West students

Niche rates Colerain High School a B-minus. Several private schools also have a strong presence in White Oak West and surrounding communities. St. Ignatius of Loyola School and St. James School house kindergarten through eighth-grade students. St. Ignatius earns an A from Niche, while La Salle High School earns an A-minus.Getting involved with the White Oak West community
"Habner Field is used for a couple of different things throughout the year, like fundraisers and a family night in September," Knab says of an evening sponsored by the White Oak Athletic Club. "Now and then they'll have a fundraiser for someone in the community who is ill. It's a very friendly area. People take care of each other here." The community's small businesses host other events for locals. The White Oak Garden Center becomes festive around the holidays with "Little Sprouts" Easter egg hunts and make-and-take workshops. Neighbors gather a group or roll solo for birthday parties and friendly competition at Heidi Bowling Lanes.
Commuting to Cincinnati, Indiana and Kentucky
"What the area offers is accessibility within five minutes to three major highways," says Joe Knab, a RE/MAX Preferred Group Associate who has lived in White Oak West for 68 years. "I-74 takes you towards downtown Cincinnati or Indiana; Cross County Highway takes you to the east side of town; and I-275 is a beltway around the Cincinatti area and encompasses all three states, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The geographical area provides easy access to get out of town, get into town, or get to the far east side of town. No matter which way I want to go, I'm on the highway in minutes." White Oak West is also situated 4.5 miles from TriHealth Group Health - Western Ridge and 2.5 from the emergency room at Mercy Health - West Hospital. Folks can cross the state border on I-75 to reach Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in about 23 miles.Shopping and dining on Harrison and Glenway
Cheviot Road divides east and west White Oak with shops, restaurants and service centers. Residents can grab dinner necessities at Langen Meats and Fine Wines, enjoy a hot coffee and a bagel in the company of neighbors at White Oak Coffee House, eat lunch at LaRosa's Pizza White Oak and stop for a car wash on the way back. By turning onto North Bend Road, folks can run through their grocery list at Kroger, choose between shelves of toys and kibble at Petco and pick up a prescription at Walgreens. "I usually leave and make a 10-minute drive towards Harrison Avenue, in Green Township," Knab offers as an alternative. This thoroughfare serves as Cheviot's downtown strip and is home to local favorites like Up Up and Away Comics and Legends Bar & Venue. Nearby Glenway Avenue offers even more shopping at Target, TJ Maxx and other big-box retailers.Sharing life with surrounding communities
"White Oak West is actually split between Green Township and Colerain Township, but they're in the same zip code," Knab says. "There's another adjoining community called Monfort Heights that I would call a 'sister' type community. They border each other, and you drive through one to get to the other."
