Visit a park or a butterfly house
"The parks in this area are truly the crown jewels of Ohio," says Realtor Jeffrey Studer with the Danberry Co., who resides in nearby Perrysburg and works alongside his Realtor wife, Joy. The Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, the largest of Toledo's Metroparks, is a testament to this. It boasts two campgrounds, two cabins and the country's only public treehouse village. In addition to being a habitat for local plants and wildlife, the park offers over 70 miles of trails for cross-country skiing, horseback riding and biking. Comprising 3,332 acres in Henry, Fulton and Lucas counties., Maumee State Forest features a 2-mile self-guided hike on the Stewardship Trail, 66 miles of unmarked fire lanes for hiking and 8 miles of bridle trails. The picturesque Wiregrass Lake is a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. This restored natural setting is home to a diverse array of dragonflies. Wheeler Farms is a popular destination in Whitehouse featuring three attractions: a corn maze, a Christmas tree farm and butterfly house that’s open from May through July.
