Located on Williamsport's eastern edge, Washington offers the relaxed pace of the suburbs while still less than a mile from downtown Williamsport, UPMC Divine Providence hospital, restaurants on Washington Boulevard, and several parks and churches. And just a couple miles east of the neighborhood, locals have their pick of dozens of stores and restaurants along the commercial area known as the "Golden Strip." But nature isn't far either. Pub grub at Domers and errands on the Golden Strip
Domers Bar & Grill is an Irish Pub on Grove Street serving bar favorites like chili nachos, wings and sliders. The Sticky Elbow, a contemporary bar and restaurant on Washington Boulevard, serves dishes like steak, burgers and sushi. As drivers head east from the neighborhood down Washington Boulevard, "it turns into East 3rd Street, or what we call the Golden Strip," says Tracy Knoebel, Realtor at KW Advantage Williamsport and Williamsport native. "That's the biggest commercial area there." She says the name comes from the area's "golden lights," and people drive there for stores like T.J. Maxx, grocers like Giant and chain restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings and Texas Roadhouse. UPMC Williamsport Divine Providence hospital is in Washington's northeastern corner, and Lycoming College is just southwest. The Army National Guard requirement center is in the neighborhood off Grove Street. There are also several churches, including the First Church of Christ, Williamsport Assembly of God and Faith Wesleyan Church.

The Susquehanna River Walk is a paved trail that runs south of the neighborhood along the river. Pedestrians can cross over Interstate 180 via the Susquehanna Beltway Overpass to enter the River Walk from Washington. From the River Walk, pedestrians can cross back over Interstate 180 into downtown via the Maynard Street Bridge and Market Street Bridge. "The Riverwalk is a huge deal," says Dawn Dyer, Realtor at Iron Valley Real Estate and Williamsport native. "You can walk in town, and you don't have to deal with car traffic. You feel like you're out in the country without actually being in the country." The Riverwalk is also on Williamsport's levee system, which helps mitigate flooding. For indoor fun, Faxon Bowling Lanes is off River Avenue on the neighborhood's eastern edge.
