Echo Farms-Rivers Edge
Neighborhood in Wilmington, North Carolina
New Hanover County 28412
Midcentury and modern styles surrounded by trees, creeks and marsh
Single-family homes in Echo Farms rest along narrow, winding roads that weave around the former golf course, but properties in Rivers Edge sit on wide sidewalk-lined streets that end in cul-de-sacs. Both sides of the neighborhood feature a mix of architectural styles, from 1970s brick ranch-style homes and 1990s Colonial Revivals to early 2000s New Traditional designs and newly constructed Craftsman homes. “The older homes are brick and wood, while newer homes are Hardie Plank,” says Elisa Roels, the owner of Cape Fear Realty Group, who’s lived in the area since 2003. Shade trees and shapely shrubs rooted in mulched beds adorn neatly trimmed front lawns. Lot sizes range from about 1/10 acre to over ½ acre. Home prices start at around $345,000 and can top $660,000. Townhouses cost between $230,000 and $475,000. Potential buyers should note that with creeks and marshland throughout the neighborhood, FEMA flood maps show most properties have a risk of flooding.Echo Farms Park in the neighborhood, Greenfield Lake nearby

Closer to downtown, baseball fans fill the stands at Buck Hardee Field at Legion Stadium to watch the Wilmington Sharks. The collegiate summer league team won the Coastal Plain League’s 2024 Petitt Cup Championship. Legion Stadium sits at the southern end of Greenfield Lake and Greenfield Park, the city’s largest public green space, drawing brave kayakers who paddle around the water despite signs warning of alligators.Preserving the historic New Hanover High School
