Morningside Manor
Ranch-style homes and cottages in a woodsy area near Piedmont Quarry
Morningside Manor is an established, forested suburb where “most homes were built between the 1950s and 1970s,” Perdue says. Ranch-style homes and cottages are set back on quarter to half-acre lots surrounded by mature trees. “There’s not a lot of new construction, but there is a lot of renovation and a lot of new modern interior design here,” Perdue adds. Most housing prices range from $100,000 to $200,000, and it's rare to find a house over $250,000. There are a few areas in the community that have sidewalks, and residents can be found going on a morning jog or taking pets on an afternoon walk.Easy access to Grant Park and Bowman Stadium
Morningside Manor offers plenty for those who want to get outside. A favorite is The Quarry at Grant Park. Residents can walk the pier high above the Piedmont Quarry to see stunning water views and the Winston-Salem city skyline. After checking out the views, residents can enjoy an evening stroll on the Waughtown Connector. The paved path stretches around the quarry and through woods, connecting back to the neighborhood.Continue the excitement at Reynolds Park, just across the street for most residents. Golf enthusiasts particularly enjoy the 18-hole course, but there are all sorts of additional amenities for the whole family. Visitors can play a few tennis matches, shoot hoops on the basketball court, or bring the kids to the pool during the summer. For high-octane fun, Perdue says residents can head over to Bowman-Gray Stadium. “The track is really popular, and usually packed on Saturday nights to watch the races.”

This drive-in has served burgers, dogs and fries for over 50 years. There are plenty of options downtown, like Sweet Potatoes, which is known for its southern cooking and down-home plates, especially the fried chicken. Residents can also hop on the highway and get to larger commercial areas on Peters Creek Parkway or the Hanes area. Hanes is home to big box stores, grocery stores and the Hanes Mall.Students in Morningside Manor attend Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
