Located about 20 miles from Houston, Woodloch has a lot of small-town charm with proximity to amenities throughout Montgomery County. Incorporated in 1974, this community has its city hall right in the middle of residential streets, adding to the village vibe. Towering trees line much of the community's streetscape, with single-family homes built around the time the neighborhood was established in the 1970s. Most homes here have maintained their curb appeal, often sitting on spacious lots of a quarter acre or more. You can find a four-bedroom home with brick accents for $280,000, and houses with more spacious floor plans can cost up to $350,000. Prices in the Montgomery Creek Ranch subdivision are similar. “Montgomery Creek Ranch attracts a lot of first time homebuyers,” says Rosalee Torrence, a real estate agent with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. “There a lot of community amenities, including the kids park, and you’re also close to all of the amenities in The Woodlands.”

Parents will likely enroll their children in public schools in the Conroe Independent School District, home to many highly ranked schools. School-aged children will likely start out at Suchma Elementary School, home of the Eagles. Boasting an overall A Niche grade, students at Suchma can take advantage of the school's many programs, including after-school care, band and choir, and a gifted and talented program among others. Students from Suchma will attend Irons Junior High afterward, which also has an overall A Niche grade, followed by Oak Ridge High School. Students at Oak Ridge have had great academic success, with SAT and ACT scores higher than the state average.

In addition to being just minutes away from the San Jacinto River, there are plenty of outdoor areas around if you want to get some fresh air. The community is just 7 miles from the expansive W G Jones State Forest, one of the largest urban forests in the country. Whether you're going for a peaceful walk along one of the many trails that are lined with towering Sweetleaf trees. The forest is a hub for outdoor activities, with two lakes that are great for fishing, horseback riding areas and a picnic area if you want to refuel after your hike. There are parks closer to the community, as well. Parents can take their children to Montgomery Creek Ranch Park to cool off at the splash park during the summer months, or for a play date after at the playground on the weekend.

Though many of the area's shops and dining are in the neighboring College Park neighborhood, residents won't have to travel far to get groceries for tonight's dinner or any daily essentials. A quick drive down the Texas 242 highway from reaching College Park Drive, home to many big box retailers like Walmart, Lowe's and At Home, among others. There are plenty of beloved food chains in the area, including Willie's Grill and Icehouse, which offers tasty burgers and seafood. If you want to watch your favorite team play, head to 242 Pub and Grill for good drinks, a lively environment and Cajun pub grub.

There are more than just shops in the area, though. Woodloch is just under 4 miles from Houston Methodist Hospital, a full-service medical center offering various services ranging from its Cancer Center, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and many more. St. Luke's Health medical center is also nearby, offering emergency services, pediatric care and more.

Residents will likely have to drive to get around since most public transportation is in Conroe, which is about 8 miles away from town. However, the North Freeway is nearby, meaning residents can get a jump start on their commute. Living in the community means you're close to many city conveniences, with the suburban comforts waiting for you at home.
