How Bell Hill balances city living with nearby parks and life sciences
In Bell Hill, city living meets easy access to green space and job hubs. The neighborhood is just west of Green Hill Park, the largest in Worcester, and the Biotech Park area, a center for life sciences and medicine. Several UMass Memorial Health facilities are in the neighborhood, with the main campus less than 2 miles away. Interstate 290 lies to the east, facilitating commutes toward Downtown Worcester and Boston. And while this small community is mostly residential, its central location puts it close to some of the city’s most popular neighborhoods, from the restaurants in Shrewsbury Street to the entertainment centers in Green Island.
What homebuyers and renters can find in Bell Hill
Bell Hill has a variety of housing options, and the vast majority of residents here rent. "Like Worcester at large, Bell Hill is known for its multi-family homes," says Realtor Lee Joseph of Coldwell Banker Realty, who has sold homes throughout the city. Residences are densely packed up and down the neighborhood’s hills, with sidewalks along the streets. Here’s what properties can cost in Bell Hill:
The neighborhood’s few single-family homes, mostly Colonial Revivals and gable-front houses, can range from the low to high $300,000s.
Townhouses, which include a mix of historic properties and new construction from 2025, can start in the mid-$200,000s and reach the upper $400,000s, depending on age.
Condos, some in historic mill buildings or schoolhouses, can run from the high $100,000s to the low $300,000s.
Multi-family properties, from Worcester’s signature triple-deckers to Victorian buildings, can start in the mid-$400,000s and reach roughly $2.5 million.
