How Greendale blends residential living with Worcester city access
Greendale sits on the quieter, more residential edge of north Worcester. Its casual neighborhood restaurants, timeless residential architecture and educational institutions, from public schools to a community college, make for an established, lived-in feel. Nearby Indian Lake and Green Hill Park give residents room to get outside, while grocery stores and shopping centers close to home keep everyday needs within reach. Interstate 190 and a commuter rail in Downtown Worcester, about 5 miles away, also make trips around the region and into Boston convenient.

Greendale’s home styles, options and prices
Homes in Greendale come in classic New England styles. You’ll see Colonial Revivals, American Foursquares, bungalows and ranch-style homes along hilly residential roads. Residences can include charming features like window seats, historic trim details and brick fireplaces. Multi-family properties are also here, including Worcester’s signature triple-decker homes, with formal living and dining rooms, in-unit laundry hookups and enclosed porches. Between that housing mix and its distance from downtown, Greendale feels more laid-back and residential than closer-in Worcester neighborhoods. “It borders the quiet side of the city, and a quiet town just outside of the city,” says William McGuiness, co-owner of 1 Worcester Homes and a Worcester native.
Single-family homes can range in price from the mid-$300,000s to the low $700,000s, depending on size, age and condition. Multi-family properties can start in the low $500,000s and reach about $1.3 million. The neighborhood’s few townhouse options, mostly duplexes built since 2025, can run from the high $300,000s to the high $500,000s.

About 5 miles south of Greendale, Worcester’s largest outdoor space, Green Hill Park covers about 500 acres.
