Residents have properties from two to 20 acres in size. Many prospective homebuyers are looking for a place to farm or house animals. It’s common to see stables adorning many properties. There are ample parks in the Upper Salford Township area, and a local favorite is the Upper Salford Park. The park has various amenities, including a disc golf course, four miles of walking trails, a butterfly garden and a covered pavilion. Local athletes use the tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields and a sand volleyball court. For waterside fun, venture to Groff’s Mill Park. Perkiomen Creek’s eastern branch weaves the heart of Groff’s Mill Park and runs parallel to short nature trails. Many residents perch on small banks to cast a fishing line or relax by the water. If you need a spot to bring your furry friends, check out Cuddy Dog Park, which features two fenced-in areas.

Locals head to Shelly Square when they need to shop. In the heart of the shopping center is a Landis Supermarket, ideal for grabbing grocery essentials. Shelly Square also has several service businesses and restaurants, like Energy Station. The restaurant serves as both a tasty spot for dinner and an ice cream shop, with various flavors like pineapple upside-down cake and cookies and cream. A Walmart Supercenter is 2 miles south of Shelly Square for more big box shopping options.

When winter comes around, locals head to Spring Mountain for icy adventures like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and ice hockey. Enroll in a ski and snowboarding program to advance your skills on the slope, or take personal lessons. The fun continues into other seasons with events like haunted hayrides and haunted ski lifts during the fall. The Upper Salford Township is also home to the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Area residents have quick access to the event, where they can enjoy live music, food and drinks.

Public transportation does not reach the area, so residents primarily drive when they need to get around. If you’re headed to Philadelphia, you’ll have a 36-mile trip south down the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Allentown is 25 miles directly north. Locals also use Interstate 73 for commuting in and out of the area. The Upper Salford Township affords a getaway from the bustle of city life in its rustic, rural corner.
