Local shops and eateries along Haines Road
“When I drive through Levittown streets, I don’t see anything but housing and residential,” says Stacey Stier, a Levittown local who's a Realtor with Realty One Group. “But all the main roads through here, like Edgely and Mill Creek, are where all the businesses are. They connect everything together.” Junewood is bounded by two roads — Edgely on the west and Haines on the east. Edgely houses mostly auto shops, electrician services and storage facilities, while Haines Road is home to a variety of local restaurants. Mill Creek Parkway is also nearby, providing access to grocery stores and more eateries.Junewood residents can walk to either the Kenwood Shopping Center or the Haines Shopping Center, retail plazas that sit right next to each other. Euro Food Market sells groceries, European snacks, ingredients and baked goods. Bravo Pho is a popular Vietnamese restaurant, and Sport’s Pizza serves Italian food alongside its pies. Zhang’s offers Chinese takeout, while Turkish American Club of Levittown dishes up Turkish classics. Faith Restaurant counter-serves Liberian cuisine and soul food, while local diner Violetwood Cafe serves breakfast and lunch. There are also a few casual bars, including Cazz’s Sports Bar, with its TVs and pool tables, and Hurricane Jack’s, which features live rock 'n' roll performances.
Under the Pier is a popular and locally adored seafood restaurant that only accepts cash. Serving the community since 1971, the establishment's old-school charm is complemented by a front door that resembles an old ship hatch. Levittown Town Center is located a mile up Bristol Pike in Tullytown. Once home to the state’s largest landfill, which drew a series of noise and odor complaints before closing in 2017, Tullytown has transformed into a small commercial area with big-name stores like Walmart, Home Depot and PetSmart.
Taking the SEPTA train into Center City
Bristol Pike, or U.S. Route 13, runs through the southeast side of Junewood, where there are several SEPTA bus stops. About a mile south on this highway, motorists can merge onto Interstate 95 and ride for about 35 miles to Philadelphia International Airport. “On a perfect day with no traffic, it’s about a 40-minute ride,” Stier says. “But there’s usually always traffic because the airport is on the opposite side of the city.” She mentions that she uses Trenton-Mercer Airport, which is 12 miles north, whenever she can. “The only thing there are Frontier and Spirit, and there’s only the one terminal,” Stier adds. Passengers can board SEPTA trains about a mile north in Tullytown at the Levittown station and arrive in Center City in a little less than an hour.Trail walking along the Delaware Towpath
The Delaware Towpath, also called the D&L Trail, runs along the south side of Junewood. This 144-mile trail follows the Delaware Canal through Levittown and goes north all the way through Penn Lake Park in Luzerne County. Just east of the neighborhood, Tullytown Canal Park’s playground and swingset were upgraded in 2017. On the west side, Violetwood Park’s play area is a bit older and in need of updates. “We try to replace one playground a year,” says Brian Andrews, director of parks and recreation in Falls Township. “We’re putting a lot of emphasis on accessibility.”About 3 miles north of Junewood, Falls Township Community Park is an expansive spot that includes playgrounds, sports courts and athletic fields, a skate park and a recreational lake that allows kayaks and boats with electric motors. Each Sunday from June through September, the park hosts a free concert series. “There have been talks of adding an amphitheater to the park,” Andrews says. “We would tweak our concert series and bring in bigger acts. So we would probably need to start charging.” This possible addition to the park is still under discussion.
The Delaware River flows just south of Junewood. Residents with boats can join either the Bristol Yacht Club or the Edgely Boat Club, both located just across Bristol Pike. While these are membership-only clubs that offer dock slips for their members, each holds public events throughout the year.
Class is in session in the Bristol Township School District
Junewood students can begin at Brookwood Elementary School before advancing to Benjamin Franklin Middle School, both of which receive a C-minus grades from Niche. Harry S. Truman Senior High School, graded a B-minus, will implement a new class schedule for the 2025-2026 school year, taking away one class period to add 30 minutes of “Tiger Time,” when students have free rein over how they want to catch up on their schoolwork.1950s Cape Cods and modern Colonial-inspired homes
Residential streets are lined with sidewalks, and each home comes with a driveway. Some updated homes also offer single-car garages or carports. The housing inventory in Junewood is low, due in part to the neighborhood being only about a quarter of a square mile. Most homes maintain their 1950s Cape Cod builds with steep side-facing gable roofs. However, a few houses have been renovated into more modern, Colonial-inspired designs. “Most houses are the original Levittowners,” Stier says, referring to the basic Cape Cod or ranch-style models from when Levittown was initially built. “But others have been built up and expanded.”Smaller homes range between $330,000 and $430,000, depending on their square footage and remodel dates. Larger, Colonial-inspired homes, some newly built in 2023, might cost from $400,000 to $450,000. Also within the Junewood neighborhood, the Royal Park Apartments offers studios and one- and two-bedroom rentals.
