Violetwood residences near a retail intersection
Violetwood is one of the dozens of suburbs that make up Levittown, a historic mass-produced town about 25 miles outside of Philadelphia that is considered to be the blueprint of modern-day suburbia. In 1951, a real estate development company called Levitt & Sons followed six simple models of Cape Cod and ranch-style homes, constructing more than 17,000 of them in a six-year time span. While many of these subdivisions might appear to be the same, they are each unique in their own way. “These neighborhoods have a little strip of something separating them all,” says Stacey Stier, a Levittown local and Realtor with Realty One Group. Violetwood’s unique quality is its namesake park that sits on the east side.
In addition to being a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood, Violetwood attracts residents for its convenience. “One of the big draws is that there are so many grocery stores,” says Melissa Centifonti, who is also a Levittown local and Broker/Owner with Realty One Focus Group. “Within a quarter of a mile from my house, there are three different options.” The community also offers proximity to major highways, a benefit for residents who commute into the cities. “It’s very accessible to Philly and Jersey, being right there off U.S. Route 13 and Interstate 95,” says Brian Andrews, Director of Parks & Recreation in Falls Township.

Dining and markets where Mill Creek meets Edgely
While Violetwood is mainly residential, plenty of commercial establishments are just outside the neighborhood. “When I drive through Levittown streets, I don’t see anything but housing and residential,” Stier says. “All the main roads around there, like Mill Creek and Edgely, are where the businesses are. They connect everything together.” Right outside of the neighborhood where Mill Creek Road and Edgely Road intersect, there is a small retail area with shops, eateries and markets. Gleasons Bar is the local watering hole with pool tables, TVs for sports games and the occasional live music. In the same plaza, Luigi’s Pizzarama is a no-frills pizza spot that also serves hoagies and pasta dishes. For groceries, residents can head to ALDI, also located at the Mill Creek and Edgely intersection.
For bigger grocery hauls and more shopping options, Levittown Town Center is about 3 miles east in Tullytown. There are fitness studios, salons, eateries and big-name department stores like Walmart. Also located in this larger retail section, St. Michael the Archangel is a Catholic Church whose grounds are the site for the St. Michael’s Fair, the largest carnival in the Lower Bucks County area that has been entertaining the community since 1954.
Bristol Park is a booming retail area about 3 miles south of Violetwood, complete with banks, fast food restaurants, salons and other storefronts. It’s also where the nearest hospital, Lower Bucks Hospital, is located.

The suburb's own Violetwood Park
On the east side, where a blue sign welcomes residents into Violetwood, is where the neighborhood’s namesake pocket park is. Violetwood Park offers play areas, a half-court basketball court and grassy space. For those that live on the west side, Green Lynne Park is another small pocket park with a small playground and swing sets. Nearby, teams of all ages in Levittown’s United Little League practice and play at the ballfield.
About 3 miles east down Mill Creek Parkway is an expansive and popular recreation space, Falls Township Community Park. Residents can walk the paved trails, use the skate park, play on the athletic fields or hockey rink, and even take a kayak onto the lake. “We’re replacing the playground at the community park in 2025,” Andrews says. “We’re trying to start doing an age 2 to 12 design to include more children. Most parks are designed for ages 2 to 5.”
From June through September, Falls Township Community Park hosts a free concert series each Sunday evening. In the fall, families gather at the park for the community’s most anticipated event, the two-day Touch A Truck Festival. “On the first night, there’s food trucks, live music and a beer garden for the adults,” Andrews says. “Then the next day, local contractors, police vehicles and others park their trucks for kids to climb on and explore. And 9 AM to 10 AM is quiet hour for children with sensory needs.”
People of all ages love the swings at Violetwood Park.

Levittown Cape Cods and ranch-style homes
Sidewalks line the residential streets of Violetwood, and each home comes equipped with a driveway. “Some are the original Levittowners,” says Stier, referring to the 1950s Cape Cod or ranch-style designs with a carport. “And some have been built up and expanded.” In some cases, houses that have been expanded have also been completely renovated to include a full second floor or a single-car garage. Depending on their level of remodeling and size, the 1,000- to 2,000-square-foot Cape Cods and ranch-style properties throughout Violetwood typically cost between $285,000 and $425,000.
A few apartment complexes are also located within the neighborhood with one- and two-bedroom rental units. Orangewood Park Apartments sits on the west side of Mill Creek Parkway, and Mill Crossing Apartments sits on the east side.

Interstate 95 and SEPTA proximity
Violetwood commuters can merge onto Interstate 95 about 3 miles south of the neighborhood, which then leads to the Philadelphia International Airport 30 miles away. “On a perfect day with no traffic, it’s 40 minutes. But there’s usually traffic because the airport is on the opposite side of the city,” says Stier. “If I can fly out of Trenton, I will. But the only airlines there are Frontier and Spirit.” Trenton-Mercer Airport is 15 miles north of Violetwood. SETPA services the community, with several bus stops along Mill Creek Road. And the Levittown train station is located 3 miles east in Tullytown.

Community served by the Bristol Township School District
“Levittown in Bucks County straddles three different townships and three different school districts,” says Centifonti. “Some people don’t know that, and when they’re looking for a home it could make a difference.” Students living in Violetwood are part of the Bristol Township School District. They can begin at Mill Creek Elementary, which receives a C grade from Niche, before attending Benjamin Franklin Middle, which receives a C-minus. Harry S. Truman Senior High School, graded a B-minus, has implemented a new class schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. This schedule takes away one class period and adds thirty minutes of “Tiger Time,” a period when students are encouraged to catch up on their studies.
