Convenient suburban living and natural beauty

Intimate concerts at the local bars, shareable pizza and the underestimated landscape of northeast Ohio are a few things that residents in Austintown, Ohio hold dear. Although people may not recognize how beautiful northeast Ohio’s scenery is, it’s riddled with clusters of stretching oak and maple trees waiting for the seasonal turn of leaves. Each season in Austintown is like a different painting, blurring with reds, browns and greens as it passes through a car window. Framed by nature, Austintown also features dozens of locally owned restaurants and shops for residents to enjoy. “Austintown is nestled in between a lot of urban and rural areas,” says Debbie Mook with Klacik Real Estate. “You have the convenience of big city shopping but still the local feel of a small town.”

Eclectic housing options at various price points

Austintown features various house styles among its residential streets. Listings in the area range from around $70,000 for modest single stories occupying 5,000-square-foot lots to over $300,000 for the most ornate estates built on half acres. The median price settles around $118,000. According to Mook, the real estate market grows exponentially with Austintown’s increasing popularity, but the neighborhood’s personality remains the same. It's still grounded with simple pleasures, like trips to the movie theater, breezy bike rides and late-night pizza grabs. “If you like an even-keel place to live, this is for you,” says Mook. “That’s a big selling feature; you have the safety in knowing that’s it's very structured.” Ranch-style homes stretch under low-sloping roofs, and split levels grant a feeling of separated space once inside, dividing rooms by a short set of stairs. Some of the area’s most expansive homes experiment with patterned brick and stone exteriors, adopting notable architectural designs like that of symmetrical Colonial Revivals. A few subdivisions, like Spring Meadows, embrace suburbia with rows of meticulously manicured lawns and walkable streets.

Crime has always been an issue in Youngstown as long as I can remember. Police are visible in the area. There is a number of shootings every year but the police always catches the criminal. I feel safe in Youngstown and I have never had a personal problem with crime in the area.
