The park also features an array of sporting facilities, such as sand volleyball courts, soccer fields and an outdoor hockey rink in the Mill Creek Wick Recreational Area. Along with playground space and a splash pad, the recreational area has a performing arts pavilion for live concerts and events. Lanterman’s Mill, positioned along the moving creek, still works today thanks to careful restorations. After visiting the old mill, locals can walk across the covered bridge, which is especially photo-worthy when framed by the red and gold leaves of fall.Youngstown City School District offers college credit
Local students attend school in the Youngstown City School District. Depending on street address, kids will attend Volney Elementary or Taft Elementary before heading to Chaney Middle School. Medical care is also roughly 5 miles away at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. “I would say my favorite part of living here is the number of local restaurants,” Roman says. “The food is extremely good. You can go to a lot of places that aren’t chains.” Cornersburg Plaza has an array of local restaurants. Cornersburg Pizza features an array of wing and pizza choices, including the “Some-of-Eachy” pizza, which promises that each slice will boast different toppings. Davidson’s Restaurant on Canfield Road is another popular eatery that serves a breakfast buffet and large platters of American fare. For groceries, locals can swing by Sparkle, a regional chain.
