"The residential areas are peaceful in Youngstown," says long-term resident Jennifer Muhlenkamp. Lansingville sees little traffic beyond the coming and going of residents. Streets feature paved sidewalks where locals go for morning strolls or bike rides. The residential landscape is a mix of architectural styles; from modest single-story cottages and expansive ranch-style houses, to symmetrical Colonial homes and Craftsman houses with wraparound porches. There's also a range of yard sizes; locals can decorate shallow lots with small flower beds or colorful porch flags, while some larger lots provide enough space for trampolines, swing sets or full-sized gardens. Trumbull County local and Century 21 Realtor William Broxson says, "There are plenty of homes available under $50,000, it's easy to find affordable homes in the neighborhood." Homes range from $10,000 for homes in need of T.L.C. up to $119,000 for more updated area homes.

Pickup games at Homestead and Pemberton Park
Locals can gather at Homestead Park for birthday parties or pick-up basketball games. The sheltered pavilion sits in sight of the playground, allowing parents to keep an eye on their playing kids from the shade. Just a mile south, Pemberton Park is the neighborhood's sports hub. Soccer, baseball and softball players can use one of three fields, or locals can participate in a community-wide kickball league. Locals can also make a short drive to Mill Creek Park, featuring miles of scenic walk trails leading through dense forests and over historic bridges.

Museum trips and sports at Lansingville's schools
Catering to residential youth, William H. Taft Elementary School teaches from kindergarten through eighth grade and partners with The Butler Museum of American Art. Each year, fourth graders receive classroom visits from museum employees and embark on two trips to the museum. Students move on to secondary institutions such as East High School, in Youngstown's East Side. The high school has an overall C-minus rating on Niche and has graduated players for Major League Baseball teams like the Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. Summit Academy Schools is a special-education school for individuals with social or emotional challenges such as AD/HD or Asperger's Syndrome. The school cultivates an engaging learning environment with the help of therapy dogs and small teacher-to-student ratios.

Freeway access and getting around Trumbull County
Public transit provides routes to nearby Youngstown and locals up for a stroll can walk to local amenities, but most residents depend on cars and trucks to get around. Lansingville has direct access to Interstate 680, putting locals within three miles of Downtown Youngstown. The nearest hospital is the Trumbull Regional Medical Center, 20 miles north in Downtown Warren, and the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport is 17 miles north along Ohio Highway 193.

Booths and Sports in Steel City and deli goods at Ghossain's
After a day outside, locals can visit Steel City Bar and Grill along East Midlothian Boulevard. The cushioned booths are great for larger parties to share foods like soft pretzels or nachos. Meanwhile, an army of T.V. screens ensures everyone can see the latest Brown's football game. About a mile southeast, Ghossain's Gourmet Mediterranean Food doubles as a grocery store and deli. At this family-run shop, locals browse through shelves of international products and order freshly made shawarma or baklava desserts on the way out. Just south of Ghossain's, Sparkle and Save A Lot offer more grocery options.
