Zelienople is quaint and thriving
In 1802, a German aristocrat founded the town of Zelienople, named after his daughter Zelie. “It’s a charming small town and thriving. It's a popular area that offers a lot,” says Sue Malagise, Realtor with Howard Hanna Realty. This historical borough not only retains the architecture and quaint feel of its rich past but has expanded upon that legacy to include a walkable business district filled with restaurants and exciting community events.

The borough features a business district complete with shops and restaurants surrounded by blocks of single-family homes. Most feature medium-sized yards and a mix of detached and attached garages. “They have some older homes that are well built with a lot of character,” Malagise says. Prospective buyers can choose from brick Georgian houses featuring Doric columns, a move-in ready restored Victorian with intricate woodwork trim, folk Victorians with their simpler rectangular shape or opt for minimalist style bungalows. The average sales price here is $226,900, but price points range from the low $200,000s into the high $400,000s, depending on their size.

The highly rated Seneca Valley School District serves the community
Students in Zelienople attend the Seneca Valley School District, which earns an A rating on Niche for high-quality academics, college prep and teachers. On Main Street, you’ll find places to eat for any occasion. “They have a lot of new restaurants and businesses. They’re renovating the town, which brought a lot of new business,” Malagise says. For a casual dining experience, ShuBrew offers a comfortable pub where you hang out with friends and enjoy live music on their rooftop. At Goodfello’s Pizza Pasta & Grill, a locally owned Italian joint, dine in a simple, no-frills ambiance ideal for a meal shared with the family. Kaufman Tavern offers date night vibes with cocktails served at a marble bar and crystal chandeliers hanging overhead in this historic Italianate-style building.

Zelienoples celebrates agriculture and the Fourth of July
There’s no shortage of community events to bring everyone together in Zelienople. “It’s a very walkable town with a lot going on.” At the revitalized Strand Theater, help continue the non-profit's community outreach, while enjoying their concert, film and theater programming.
