Why Live in Towngate
Towngate is a mixed-use area of subdivisions, schools and retail, just 2 miles from the city’s tallest mountain. “One of our most recognizable landmarks is the ‘M’ on Box Springs Mountain. It serves as a unifying symbol for residents,” says Ulises Cabrera, Moreno Valley’s mayor since 2022. “It’s a beacon for those returning from San Diego or Los Angeles.” The neighborhood is anchored by a city park with a historic trail leading to a reservoir for swimming, fishing and horseback riding. TownGate Memorial Park connects to the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. This path starts at the park and ends at the 8,000-acre Lake Perris State Recreation Area, home to the Ya’i Heki’ Regional Indian Museum. Soon Moreno Valley will get a space that preserves its history. Cabrera shares the city’s excitement for its first museum, opening in 2026 with immersive art projections and exhibits on Indigenous history. TownGate Memorial Park has two playgrounds and open green space, while Moreno Valley Community Park on Frederick Street offers lighted tennis courts and a skate park. Mediterranean and contemporary-style houses built throughout the 1990s and early 2000s sit under open skies
