Acres of farmland are broken up by modern subdivisions in Moyock, just across the Virginia-North Carolina state line in the northernmost part of Currituck County. While most of the homes here are new, the area was settled in the late 1600s. Farms dominated its early industry, but the Currituck Inlet made it a port town that attracted oil and packaging companies throughout the 1800s. The inlet closed around the mid-1800s as the coast’s landscape changed, leading to a renewed focus on agriculture.
