Mather
Mather is a community about 17 miles east of Sacramento and southeast of U.S. Route 50. Its link to aviation began in 1918 when the U.S. Army set up a new pilot training base here. Later, the area adopted the name of fallen pilot and Second Lieutenant Carl Spencer Mather and eventually became a U.S. Air Force Base, which closed in 1993. It's now the
