Welcome to Commonwealth Designs! Ownership in our company has successfully built houses in the Bluegrass for over 40 years. James Barlow, Sr. began residential construction in the 1950’s. He has since been a crucial part of development in and around Lexington, KY. When Mr. Barlow retired in 2007 his sons started Commonwealth Designs.
With new concepts and more personalized strategies, Commonwealth Designs is dedicated to building a home that suits your family’s needs. We have over 100 floor plans, as well as 40 communities in surrounding areas including Louisville. These residential neighborhoods are in prime locations in central Kentucky and have been developed to meet the buyer’s demands. Listening to the customer and adapting to progressive trends will allow Commonwealth Designs to continue the tradition that has kept them on top.
