Welcome to St Roch, a historic neighborhood found lakeside of St Claude Avenue across from the hip Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. It began in 1830 when the Pontchartrain Railroad connected the Marigny neighborhood with Milneburg, a small settlement on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Today, the neighborhood is home to people looking to live close to the most exciting areas in New Orleans without all of the hustle and bustle. There aren’t many restaurants and shops within its boundaries, but the neighborhood enjoys easy access to surrounding amenities. “There’s a lot of history here,” says David Hedges, owner of St Roch-based Nola Tour Guy. “And its name is a cool story.
