Ghent Square offers proximity to shops and work
Nestled between Colonial and Llewellyn Avenues lies Ghent Square. Botetourt Gardens, a grassy tree-lined median, runs the length of the neighborhood and is surrounded by classic brick colonials and midcentury modern apartments. “It’s difficult to find homes in Ghent Square, but those who are lucky enough to make it happen are not disappointed,” says Katie Burke, the No. 1 Realtor for Century 21 in Virginia, who has lived in the area all her life. “The ability to walk to all your everyday needs is the biggest draw for buyers.” Close to Old Dominion University, several hospitals and the New Energy of Norfolk (NEON) District, homeowners have nearby work and nightlife opportunities.

Dining around Ghent Square
Ghent Square locals can visit nearby eateries such as Cafe Stella, No Frill Bar and Grill and Catnip Cat Café, all of which are very popular. “Cafe Stella has great coffee selections and is a wonderful space to lounge because of all the seating options. No Frill Bar and Grill has some of the best artichoke dip around. Some people can’t have cats at home because a family member has an allergy. The cat café gives them a little dose of pet therapy,” Burke says. There are several shops and boutiques just north of 20th Street, and a Harris Teeter grocery store along DeBree Avenue.
Locals enjoy a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast at Cafe Stella.
