Ridgeland Park is a neighborhood just north of downtown Decatur that combines the charm of small-town living with the convenience that comes with its proximity to numerous amenities. The community is close to retail plazas, major employers and the MARTA Blue Line, which can take residents straight into Atlanta. “It just kind of has it all while being fairly quiet,” says Ellen Buettner, a longtime resident and Realtor with Keller Williams Realty Metro Atlanta. Just over 1,000 people live in the neighborhood, which lies partially in Decatur and partially in an unincorporated section of DeKalb County. Buettner says the good-sized lots and well-ranked schools also entice homebuyers. There are just under 300 homes in Ridgeland Park. “I love the neighborhood itself; it’s very green,” Buettner says. “The houses are older for the most part, built in the 1940s, and mostly brick. The gardens and the yards are beautiful.” Tall trees line the wide streets in the area, where ranch-style and Craftsman-style homes dominate. Most streets do not have sidewalks.
