Stony Brook is a suburban Omaha neighborhood in the Millard region. With about 15 miles separating it from Downtown Omaha, the area offers a respite from city life. Families enjoy access to highly rated schools in the Millard Public Schools district, and parks and trails are within walking distance. Most single-family homes are ranch-style and split-level builds from the 1970s, and there are a few apartment buildings and townhomes in the area as well. Sale prices typically range from the lower $200,000s to the mid-$300,000s. Properties sell quickly, and inventory can be low. Neihardt Elementary School is right across the street from the playground and ball fields at LeBeau Park. You'll be able to walk to sporting events at Millard South High School just north of the neighborhood, too. A paved multiuse trail by South 144th Street leads to Chalco Hills Recreation Area, about 2 miles south. The popular year-round retreat has a sledding hill and hiking trails on Wehrspann Lake. South 144th Street is also home to most of the neighborhood's commerce, including a Hy-Vee grocery store, Starbucks and Lina's Mexican Restaurant. Most people drive, and Downtown Omaha is about 20 to 25 minutes away by car. Pheasant Run, the adjoining neighborhood, offers similar perks, but houses are newer and pricier over there.
