Gladwyne, a picturesque neighborhood in Lower Merion Township near Philadelphia's famous Main Line rail corridor, has a mix of newer, luxurious homes and older properties dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The private club, which offers a 27-hole golf course, is one of the oldest in the country and hosted the U.S. Open in 1939.

Students attend Gladwyne Elementary School, Welsh Valley Middle School and Lower Merion High School, where late NBA star Kobe Bryant led the Lower Merion basketball team to a state championship in 1996. Niche gives all three schools an A-plus rating. In 2010, the high school named its new gym after Bryant. The high school’s boys’ tennis team has also won 10 state championship titles.
