Students attend The School District of Philadelphia
Students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade can attend Paul Laurence Dunbar School, a four-story school built in 1932, added to the National Register of Historic Places, and located amid Temple University schools. Students can go on to Benjamin Franklin High School, located closer to Center City. Yorktown borders busy Girard Avenue and Broad Street
West Girard Avenue is home to a variety of local restaurants, including Larry’s Steaks, the most popular spot in the neighborhood for a cheesesteak and other comfort foods. Residents can hop on the Market-Frankford Line (known locally as the El) and quickly get to the several other local shops and restaurants that line West Girard Avenue or West Philadelphia. For a more commercialized experience, residents can get to Broad Street.
