Renters also have plenty of options, from single-family homes to apartment complexes.

Bike paths and sidewalks connect to job hubs in Bakery Square and East Liberty. If you prefer to drive, East Liberty Boulevard, Penn Avenue and Washington Boulevard are the main routes through the area. Larimer’s tight-knit feel is apparent in its green spaces. “People care about each other. They pick up trash and build community gardens,” says KarenJane Mcilwain, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices who grew up nearby in East Liberty. “If you’re interested in building a neighborhood and growing with a community, it’s really a great place.” The community garden and village green are where neighbors gather for events. Larimer Park has a playground and a basketball court, and Liberty Green Park has more play space for kids. Highland Park, which has miles of walking paths, Victorian gardens and the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, is a short drive away.

Since I was 6 years old I was in the east liberty area. I can say when I was young there was a lot of gang banging going on, abandoned house, empty store fronts,etc. Thought nothing good was gonna from staying. But I still choose to raise my kids in the area because grandmom always told me there will be life back in the area and 25 years later we have more jobs in the area ,better homes, and a host of new stores and hotels. Seeing this reminds me that east liberty is a beautiful place

I have lived her for 2 years. We own 2 houses in the Larimer area and we love our tenant and our neighbors. The neighborhood does still have crime but with police patrolling I have noticed it is down. The neighbors come together to keep empty lots clean and take care of each other. The issues seem to be with people coming into the neighborhood selling drugs, vandalizing, and stealing.
