Peaceful subdivisions surround the bustling commercial activity of Plymouth Meeting, a small town divided by Plymouth and Whitemarsh Townships.

You’ll find mostly single-family homes in Plymouth Meeting’s residential areas, from modest houses to million-dollar estates. Some neighborhoods are full of midcentury modern homes, while others feature diverse architectural styles from the mid-1900s, including Cape Cods, ranch-style and split-level homes. Located on approximately quarter-acre lots, these single-family homes typically offer around 1,500 to 2,000 square feet of living space, and sell for around $450,000 to $500,000. If you want more room, you’ll find areas with larger traditional homes from the late 1900s with half-acre yards, ranging from $550,000 to $750,000. Or, for a more upscale atmosphere, settle down in a 21st-century mansion and enjoy the open air of your one-acre yard for around $850,000 to more than $2 million. But if you’d prefer to avoid all the yard work, you can make yourself at home in a luxury town house with an attached garage for around $550,000.

Wherever you live, you’re no more than a few miles from the town’s bustling commercial activity. The heaviest shopping traffic can be found at Plymouth Meeting Mall, one of the area’s premier shopping destinations. “It’s really like a close second to King of Prussia Mall,” says Gregory Martire, Realtor with Springer Realty Group. “It’s an epic place to shop.” For reference, King of Prussia Mall, which is just eight miles away, is the biggest mall in Pennsylvania. Plymouth Meeting Mall has more than 70 stores and restaurants and an adjacent AMC movie theater. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia is one of the mall’s biggest highlights. There’s also a Whole Foods, the largest one in the Philadelphia area. Metroplex Mall is just a two-mile shot down the road. It features major retailers like Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and more. Those who prefer locally sourced produce can go to the market at Maple Acres Farm, a landmark in the community for more than a century.

Plymouth Meeting is served by Colonial School District, which is regarded as one of the top school districts in the state. Students who live here go to Colonial Elementary School and Colonial Middle School, both of which have an A rating from Niche. High schoolers go to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, boasting an A+ Niche rating and ranked the 24th best public high school in Pennsylvania.

Residents have access to the Greater Plymouth Community Center, which offers several indoor recreational activities. Stop by to swim in the pool and go down the water slide, play basketball in the gymnasium, work out in the fitness center or join an aerobics class. Right next door, you can watch a ballgame at Villanova’s baseball stadium to root on the Wildcats.

There’s baseball and softball for kids, too, of course. They play through the Plymouth Little League at East Plymouth Valley Park. Complete with four ball fields, a concession stand and an all-accessible playground, the park offers a fun outing for everyone. Harriet Wetherill Park is another popular spot for enjoying the outdoors. Gather with friends and family under the pavilion while kids play on the playground and the big grassy field. You can also savor the beautiful woodsy and farmland views as you go for a stroll by the slow-moving stream. For more recreational fun, Green Valley Country Club gives members access to an 18-hole golf course, a pool, clubhouse and much more.

While Plymouth Meeting offers a plethora of shopping, dining and entertainment options, you’re also just a stone’s throw away from the active towns of Conshohocken and Norristown. With Interstates 276 and 476 intersecting in Plymouth Meeting, you can easily begin your travels in any direction. It’s about a 20-mile drive to Center City Philadelphia, while just four miles to city limits.

The pollution is not out of control in this area but there are not a lot of outdoor activities around apart from walking on the bike paths.

There are plenty of gyms around for people to work out in as well as plenty of trails for people to walk and run on. People around here are generally very active.

Plymouth meeting is a great area to raise a family and to grow up, but I wish that there was more focus on environmental awareness and conservation.
