The Cadillac Ranch hunting parcel is an 83+- surveyed tract of recreational hunting land. The property is located at the end of a town-maintained road and has quite a network of logging trails that extend from the access road, through a good portion of the wooded acreage. The network of trails make accessing tree stands, or hunting blinds much more convenient, than trying to bushwhack through the woods in early morning hours in hopes of crossing paths with a mature buck. While walking the property recently I observed numerous locations for tree stands or ground blinds.
The hunting tract is slightly sloped with about 40 feet of elevation change throughout the parcel. The timber type is mixed wood of mostly precommercial size. There is a power line that bisects the property, which creates an opportunity to see several hundred yards in terrain that usually limits visibility to under 100 yards. I have hunted bear, moose, grouse and whitetail adjacent to this property in the past. In fact, I helped haul a large bull moose that was shot nearby when I was just beginning my guiding career. This area is home to a very good wildlife population, especially moose and bear.
