Historically known as Lincolntown prior to its Incorporation in 1811 and today Garland has a population of about 1,000 people. The town is named after Joseph Garland whose family was the first to arrive here in 1802.
In the 1800's Garland had shoe and boot manufacturers, lumber mills, wool producers, furniture makers and the stage-line connected the town of Garland to the Maine Central Railroad in Dexter Maine. Today, Garland is a bedroom community to Bangor and Dover Foxcroft.
We are about 40 minutes southeast to Bangor and the international airport. Traveling from Boston will take about three and a half hours. An easy day trip to Moosehead Lake is just about an hour from the land.
