This Gulf-front home in WaterSound Beach, recently featured in Decor magazine and also featured in the NY magazine The Week, is the 4 year-long collaborative work of Atlanta Architect Kenneth Lynch, local Interior Designer Georgia Carlee & local Builder Mark Breaux. The original owners envisioned a legacy home to be passed down through the generations. Improving upon what was already one of the most magnificent homes in NW Florida, the current owners made considerable investments that include the installation of exterior gas lanterns & a Control 4 smart home system. They also enlisted local Interior Designer Paige Schnell to fully furnish all 7,228 square feet with custom pieces which the current owners will consider selling. The only community along 30A to significantly retain the dunes once found along its entire length, WaterSound Beach offers only 13 Gulf-front lots, this home site special for its 150-foot depth bordered to the west by a boardwalk that leads to the beach & 44-foot width facing the expanse of cascading dunes fronting the Gulf. Approaching from the driveway on the east side or from the boardwalk on the west side, it is easy to imagine a ship moored along the dunes, ready to depart on a fantastic voyage. A screened breezeway which joins the second levels of the main & guest houses creates an entry portico. One step inside the front door of the main house reveals a grand staircase. Its curved walnut treads puddle onto the Peacock Paver ground-level floor & gently swept banisters open to embrace guests as the staircase descends from the second level. On the opposite side of the stairs is a powder room and den with access to a screened porch. The den features a wet bar, a casual dining bar as well as space for a game table. Beyond the den is a guest suite with private bath & screened porch with access to the boardwalk. The elevator provides convenient access between levels, but casually climbing the staircase from the first level to the second reveals an elaborate Sinker cypress basket weave ceiling with walnut cross beams & dramatic cove lighting that draws the eye to a picture window framing views of the Gulf beyond a covered porch. Gulf-side of the staircase is the dining room & the living room with gas tabby stone fireplace & built-in media cabinetry, opposite which is a cozy sitting area. The kitchen is well-appointed & conceals most of its storage & appliances with wood panels custom-designed to discretely blend with the surrounding horizontal wood panel wall surface. There is, in fact, very nearly no dry wall used throughout. The north side of the third level features an office & bunk room with whimsical cedar shingle walls & sliding barn doors that conceal a private bath. The Gulf-side master suite on the third level is inspired by the luxurious state room of a ship. It features a morning kitchen, washer & dryer, built-in chest of drawers & twin closets. The bed is concealed by the chest of drawers & faces French doors that open to a partially covered sun deck. Its lavish bath with twin vanities, elevated soaking tub & walk-in shower is adorned in Calcutta gold marble accented by mosaic glass tile. A staircase leads to the partially covered roof-top deck with wet bar. The second levels of the main & guest houses are joined by a screened breezeway with tabby stone fireplace. The two guest suites on the second level of the guest house feature private baths. The guest suite on the east side serves as a connective passage to the second level of the carriage house where a self-contained guest suite with kitchen, bedroom & private bath can be found. This guest suite also features its own private entrance. Another guest suite resides on the ground level of the guest house with private entrance. The three separate structures create intimate spaces that afford every member of the family privacy when desired that are also gracious enough for everyone to enjoy together.
