"Willow Green" Circa 1791 is an historic estate on nearly 7 acres just south of Purcellville, Virginia. The handsome 4 bedroom stone house has been continuously lived in for 229 years. Only four families have ever owned the property. The home has been lovingly preserved and maintained through several additions with dates inscribed in stone in the attic. The main house dates to 1791 and was built by Timothy Taylor, a Quaker from Pennsylvania. With additions in 1840 and more renovations in 1944. The frame addition at the side entrance was added in the 1970's. This includes the main floor bedroom suite and second story above. The stone office with bedroom above predate the main structure and are believed to have been built as an outpost by Hessian soldiers employed by Daniel Morgan, legendary general of the American Revolution. At one time the kitchen was located in the stone portion which is now the home office. The current owners moved the kitchen and created another addition with an airy and functional galley and plenty of light. The stone floor and cherry cabinets offset the stainless appliances which include a commercial Thermador 6 burner range with pot filler and a coffee station. The counters are leather finish Brazillian soapstone. Just off the kitchen is a cozy breakfast room. The formal dining room has a very pretty and unusual stacked fireplace mantel that seems to hover above the pilasters. The living room is a great entertaining space with a large wood burning fireplace with a cast iron fireback believed to have been created for Lord Fairfax. This fireback is one of the most unique in the County. This antique home has been mentioned numerous times in books and print articles about properties in Loudoun County. Many original features and fixtures marry well with the updates. The main floor primary suite with walk-in closet and full bath is located just off of the keeping room. Stone floors and wide plank hardwood flooring throughout the main level. Hardwood flooring on the upper levels, chestnut beams in the office and primary bedroom.
