There is a carved wooden handmade gazebo with built in benches for a sweet niche for reading or sketching, viney plants growing wildly all around. Trees are shading intermittently and the adobe walls create containment. To the left and set back a tad, is a newly built adobe-looking storage shed generous in size and which could be a studio or a sleeping cottage. Following the grass further to the left is a bench surrounded by greenery and sky, perfect for meditation, dreaming, sketching. Back in the house through those French doors, the cooking area is on the right, slightly elevated, beautifully tiled in a rich green. Built-in wooden cabinets are plentiful. Originally, prior to 1991, this kitchen was an open silversmith work space! To the left of the dining table a few stairs up is the master bedroom beautifully plastered with scattered nichos. This room was formerly the kitchen! And through a large archway is an elevated open bath area. The jetted tub is very generous and sits in the windowed corner for maximum appreciation of the views. With many nichos and much charm and character, this is a perfect place for guests, or a caretaker. It is well appointed with a covered patio entry, small, raised horno fireplace in the corner of the cozy living space, sweet tiled galley kitchen (reminiscent of Jim Wagner’s work), open shelving, stacked washer/dryer, and sliding door to a back patio sitting area with views of Taos Mountain. There is one fairly large bedroom with ample closets, and the bathroom with shower off of it. This casita is light and bright with stained vintage Mexican doors, hammered tin fixtures, wood sash windows, and waffle shades. The house is very colorful, almost like artwork in itself!
