Charming home on a double lot, quiet woodsy street, walking distance to galleries, cafes, museum, etc. Practical design with spacious master bedroom and bath, second bedroom and bath, 2 office areas, workout/hobby space, and ample storage. Designed with energy-efficiency and low maintenance in mind, while offering visual appeal inside and out. I love the quiet, private, friendly neighborhood but wonderfully close to everything. Noview Ave. is NOT platted to go through to Bartlett, so it will always be a dead-end street. Major landowner, Lou Stewart, is a nice guy who is slowly building nice, smaller homes on his lots (two so far) in keeping with the character of the neighborhood.
I love the DOUBLE lot and the placement of the house on the lot which accentuates the feeling of being in the country even though house is right in town. The house straddles the former property line, so homes that will be built on Spruceview will be not be directly behind, but rather offset.
I love the big old spruce trees.
I love the home itself the beautiful blue-green color, the matching low-care metal roofing that will last forever, and the energy efficiency features. It is designed to have few windows on the north side and just the right amount on the south side. The cedar siding is so much nicer than
T-111 and of course it is rot-resistant.
I love the big single basin sink in the kitchen. Even my large 12-inch fry pan fits flat, which is great when I want to soak it before washing!
I love the colorful home-made tiles in the kitchen and the overall sunny appearance.
I like the view out the window.
I love my energy saving appliances which were purchased in consultation with Consumer Reports. All ranked top or near the top in the listings. Front-load washer and dishwasher are Energy Star; refrigerator is also very efficient.
I love the big mud room room for lots of coats, shoes, recycling bins and pantry items!
I love the laundry room, especially because of the clothes line and hangers. I hang EVERYTHING to dry except sheets. Why burn fossil fuels when its not necessary?
I love the carpet in the house. It is high quality commercial-grade carpet so practical. It looks great whether it has been freshly vacuumed or not. It has an extra-thick low-emission pad under it so I can work out on the floor (sit-ups, push-ups, etc.) and be comfortable no need for a separate mat.
I love the sewing/exercise area, partly because it is just off the main living area and therefore you dont feel shut away when youre in that space.
I do like the radiant floor heat, even though I mostly heat with wood. I have no doubt that natural gas is coming to Homer, at which time it will be easy to convert from propane to natural gas, a real money-saver.
I love the woodstove. It is beautiful to look at and so practical. It just gives the house a nice feel even when its not being used!
I love the two walk-in closets upstairs! A perfect his-and-hers arrangement. Same with the office areas.
I love the laundry drop in the upstairs bathroom! (Dirty clothes, towels, etc. can be dropped straight through into the laundry room downstairs.)
I like the way the downstairs bedroom has its own bathroom which can also be accessed from the kitchen.
I love the built-in cabinets and shelves. They provide a nice, homey, custom-made look and are very practical in terms of storage.
I love the wood shed/tool shed and garden shed. I feel that the outbuildings, instead of looking trashy like so many storage sheds do, actually enhance the overall appearance of the estate. The garden shed could even be made into a rental cabin if someone wanted to do that.
I love the under-house storage, especially the space accessed from outside (south side of house), which I have used for camping and kayak gear, lawn chairs, etc. That area and the other crawl space are both hooked into the HRV system no problems with mold.
I love the HRV system no problems with mold!
I love my rock garden, although it is best to think of it as a continual work in progress. The strawberry boat has worked out great!
The three paper birch trees are going to be so nice when they grow up. The two apple trees seem to be doing OK.
I love the ducks, geese, little horse, and goat that live at Noview Ave. and Wright Street.
I love enjoying summer evenings on the deck.
I love walking up through the neighborhood to the Reber Trail, up the trail to West Hill Road, and back down. Great exercise, great views, and so convenient!
I love having a fire hydrant right across the street it really helps with the insurance rates!
