As of February 2019

In the late 30’s an attorney from Cedar Rapids, Iowa flew his airplane up to the area and laid claim to the property at what is now 4252 Cascade Beach Road in Lutsen. This property of 236+feet is highlighted by a sprawling ledge rock point that juts out from the mainland in the shape of a giant fish hook thus forming a natural cove. In 1939 the cabin was built on this exceptional property. It was placed on the property to take full advantage of Mother Nature’s exciting scenes with Superior’s breakers crashing on the massive ledge rock. Views are enhanced by the surrounding weathered pines, emerald mosses and lichens, some a deep orange. Wet your toes, launch a kayak, sit by the bonfire and witness the mystical borealis. The gem is the deep cove, over which is a sturdy, handsome footbridge. Waves churn in and out of the cove: it’s mesmerizing! Sounds are myriad, depending on the day: nor’ easters, it’s rumbling cannon balls of granite and basalt or delicate watery percussion's on a calm summer day. Today, the cabin/home shares a bit of the original cabin as it now is a four season home: warm woodwork throughout, a two story cobble stone (from the cove) fireplace for the ages.
