Purchased by prominent Los Angeles businessman Lowry McCaslin in 1957, Ka Lae Kiki became part of the McCaslin's legacy. In the 1990's the family engaged architect Jim Morton, best known for his resort work in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, to design the residence anew. The new home’s positioning and view-centric floorplan display Morton’s deep appreciation for the property’s significance.
