"The old two-story home of colonial style is build of large hewn timbers with a foundation of huge logs. The lumber was sawed by a water power mill on the Tangipahoa River. The ceiling & siding were dressed by hand. It's the first two story frame house built in Pike County, also the first painted. (Clarion Ledger 12-31-1937)" Today the home has been modernized to include new plumbing, central air & heat, but retains so much of it's original charm including a beautiful mantle in the family room that was meticulously carved with a penknife!
