Built in 1811, this 208 year old house has stood the test of time as well as hurricanes Betsy, Camille and Katrina! Built by Henry Quin, son of early Pike County settlers Peter & Judith Quin, & grandfather of U S Congressman Percy Quin. Percy Quin State Park was named in his honor & at least part of the park was once owned by the Quin family. "The old two-story home of colonial style is build of large hewn timbers with a foundation of huge logs. The lumber was sawed by a water power mill on the Tangipahoa River. The ceiling & siding were dressed by hand. It's the first two story frame house built in Pike County, also the first painted. (Clarion Ledger 12-31-1937)" Today the home has been modernized to include new plumbing, central air & heat, but retains so much of it's original charm including a beautiful mantle in the family room that was meticulously carved with a penknife!
