First Street is also known as FRONT STREET where all the cottages--including 652 1ST STREET--front on the Gulf of Mexico. This vintage cottage was stick built on this site about 1920-1926. It replaced an oyster factory that was destroyed in the 1896 storm. After Hurricane Elena pushed about an inch of water inside the cottage, the cottage was elevated to its present height. The original jalousie windows were replaced in 2007 with windows meeting the Miami Dade hurricane code. A new central HVAC system was installed in 2015 and a new water heater in 2016. The original metal roof was replaced with a new metal roof in August 2019. Last but not least,it has a private fishing dock and a private boat ramp (up to 16-ft boats). WOW!
