Flagpole lot in Stuckagain Heights; look for sign. Long driveway will lead to large square shaped lot for your future home full of peace and serenity with great views of Wolverine Peak and Near Point. Perk tests in 2007 online. Utilidor runs along back side of property. Perk test from 2007 in documents. From the Sellers:we found that lot to be so special. As you know, Christian and I are research nerds, and he spent weeks and compiled an entire binder of Anchorage areas and their relative advantages/disadvantages. We also drove around town for hours -- it was on one of those drives that we actually met Roger, the man who had originally subdivided Stuckagain Heights, and learned that its wooded, private character was due to his vision/planning and his explicit intention to avoid haphazard development like had happened on the Hillside.
We decided Stuckagain was the winner because it was the only Anchorage area that combined the magic of a central location/short commute to work/school/airport/gym/etc, with that total woodland serenity. Along with that woodland environment was access to skiing/snowshoeing/hiking/biking trails from our backyard. The lot faces south, meaning we could maximize winter sun as well as summer landscaping and gardening. We liked the option to have a couple horses. The frosting on the cake was the well-rated school district - AND - (remember, we are nerds about details) the fact that Stuckagain is in a geologically stable part of town - so we would never have to worry about the next big earthquake.
While our particular lot doesn't have an ocean view, it has almost complete wooded seclusion, enhanced by the long access for the driveway. Granted, the driveway would be an expense, but would pay for itself in the quality of living provided by that privacy. The private, serene nature of Stuckagain just isn't going to change over time. Five minutes from the bustle of Tudor Road, your home is in a nature sanctuary.
It was with regret that we put it on the market - part of me wonders whether we shouldn't build our retirement home on it - but since our work/family trajectory now has us in Wisconsin indefinitely, it just doesn't make as much sense to hold on to it.
