When people think about Sagola Township, they think about the great logging era in the Upper Peninsula. In the 1840s to the 1900s, as the forests of the east were depleted, logging companies moved west into the Great Lakes area. Later on, special railroad lines were built to carry logs out of the forest to sawmills and mines.
