Located in Pueblo County, Colorado, Pueblo is the region’s most populous city and serves as the county seat. As of 2010, the area has a population of 106,595, and it is a significant part of the Front Range Urban Corridor. It is 112 miles from Denver and sits on the "Banana Belt," which results in substantially less snow than other locations in the state. According to the 2014 Cost of Living Index, Pueblo is the sixth most affordable place to live in the country, and it has significantly lower real estate prices than any other city in Colorado. The region offers a number of suburban neighborhoods with a vast range of family housing. There are also a few townhome and condo communities in the area.

It is claimed that the original settlement of Fort Pueblo was built by trappers in approximately 1842. The extensive adobe buildings were constructed with the intent to trade and were built on the Arkansas River. While the region was later abandoned, it became an important location during the gold rush, and growth surged. The current city encompasses four historical towns, and the city served as an important economic center of the state. With a booming steel industry, the Pueblo area attracted a diverse immigrant population along with a number of prominent individuals, and it has a range of ethnically based neighborhoods that are not typically seen in the area. Steel remains an important part of the economy, but there are also a number of additional employers including the Colorado Mental Health Institute, which was originally founded as an asylum, but has more recently grown into a recognized mental health facility.

Pueblo is home to the annual Colorado State Fair, and it offers a number of tourist attractions and cultural activities. Local attractions include the Buell Children’s Museum, Pueblo Convention Center, Pueblo Memorial Hall, City Park Carousel, El Pueblo History Museum, Lake Pueblo State Park, Nature and Raptor Center, Pueblo Ice Arena, Pueblo Zoo, Steelworks Museum of Industry and Culture, Union Avenue Historic Commercial District and Weisbrod Aircraft Museum. The city also has a notable sports history, as it is the hometown of Dutch Clark who was the first Coloradan to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. A number of the local schools boast prominent sports programs, and the Colorado State University – Pueblo won the NCAA Division II Football Championship. The historical city of Pueblo offers a number of exciting activities, and is an excellent community.
