Rye is a good school, all things considered. However, there are a lot of faults with it, but mostly with the student body. Rye is a very rural school in a very christian, very republican community. I don't mean to imply that religion or political standing automatically makes a bad person, but as a queer person in a non-supportive environment, the political views of this community don't exactly help. The teachers are all great and I love going to classes and interacting with people, but I have to say, hearing a slur being thrown at you at least once a day is never pleasant. Other than that, I wish there were more academic opportunities, but I don't have any more complaints. Rye is a great school and I can't imagine attending anywhere else.

I would like to see more advocacy for bullying. The bullying that goes on behind the walls tears down so many students, and no one should have to suffer through that for all four years. As well as the staff trying harder to connect with the students and learn what they may need as they grow, learn, and develop.

Rye High School has been a pretty small school for the time I have been here. It's a very personal experience because most teachers are friends with or went to school with your parents so they really get the chance to know you. Some classes at Rye are easy and fun but others have been very difficult with little to no actual teaching going on. Overall Rye is a mediocre school that tries to make everyone feel like they belong and are welcome with an average learning environment.
