Executive Realtor Alexander H. Shirah is the father of four (three sons and one daughter) and has been married to his wife, Lori Beth Shirah for nine years. He is a native from Orlando, Florida but has lived in Hinesville since 2004. Hinesville became his permanent home; the place where he wanted to work and raise his family. He began his military career in 2002 as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army. joining the 841st Engineer Battalion of the Army reservist stationed in Orlando, Florida. In 2004, Alex felt the call to more actively serve his country, left the reserves and requested to serve on active duty. In April of 2004, he was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia with 4-64 Echo Company, 3rd Infantry Division. In July of 2004, Alex was re-assigned to help stand up the new 4-3 BTSB as part of the Army’s reorganization. He was assigned to train a new Personal Security Detail team for the Brigades upcoming 2005 deployment to Baghdad, Iraq as part of operation Enduring Freedom. In 2005, Alex deployed with his newly formed team and provided personal security to the 4th Brigade Infrastructure Coordination Element, logging hundreds of miles in a combat zone. In August 2005, Alex’s vehicle was struck by an emplaced Improvised Explosive Device. Even while sustaining injury to his back Alex was able to get his vehicle out of harm’s way and his wounded soldiers to immediate medical attention resulting in only his gunner losing the tips of his fingers and his lieutenant only losing hearing in one year and no loss of life. In 2007, Alex was discharged from active duty, but was able to enlist into the Georgia National Guard. Serving with the 122 Rear Operation Command in Glenville, GA., Alex served as a S3 clerk. In 2008, Alex deployed to the Republic of Georgia where he helped train The Republic of Georgia’s Newly Formed 4th Brigade. He played a critical role in establishing cultural relationships and setting training for their S3 shop. In 2010, it was determined that Alex’s injuries made him to no longer be mission capable and he was medically discharged from the National Guard.
