It would be an understatement to say that Alex DeGraff believes in the Greenbrier Valley. A small business owner and enthusiastic community booster, over the past several years she has become so active in Ronceverte that some people assume, incorrectly, that she holds an elected or appointed office.
As the owner and operator of River City Music Co., LLC, Alex runs a Ronceverte studio with instructors offering lessons in piano, guitar (acoustic, electric and classical), bass and violin. Musically accomplished, she teaches piano herself. Never one to shy away from physical work, she rolled up her sleeves and devoted long hours to renovating the downtown building where all this activity takes place.
In 2023 she launched, along with Sportsman Tavern owner Dan Withrow, the Ronceverte Food Truck Festival, and served that year as the festival's coordinator.
Alex's interest in real estate arose from becoming a homeowner, and her friendship with Paul Grist and others who work for his agency. A people person, she is attracted to the team aspect at Grist Real Estate and says she finds Paul "an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful team leader", and the other agents kind and welcoming. She hopes to play a role in helping some of her contemporaries who have moved away from the area in search of jobs or housing return to the community. It sounds like a tall order, but those who know Alex have learned never to underestimate her.
