Alfredda “Fred” Smith-Odato
While the Great Recession purged scores of Realtors from southwest Florida, Alfredda “Fred” Hurst-Odato saw an opportunity to increase her expertise. Her unrelenting passion for a career in real estate inspired her to take nearly every advanced class available, including obtaining her broker’s license.
Fred’s real estate career allows her to combine her love of Florida real estate with her deep background in international relations. She started her career in the import-export business where she frequently interacted with foreign nationals and became an expert in the intricate duty and customs laws of the U.S. while leading an eight-person team. She also has experience as an entrepreneur, owning and operating a successful Mail Boxes, Etc. franchise for many years.
A native of Baltimore, Fred has been visiting the Gulf coast of Florida since 1998 and moved here permanently to become a Realtor in 2002. In her spare time, she cheers for the Rays (and the Orioles), and spends her spare time with her cocker spaniel Allie, and her four grandchildren. A veteran boater, she also volunteers with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Habitat for Humanity.
Fred proudly considers herself a survivor of the housing bubble, bringing together her advanced education, ability to work with international clients, and ability to navigate into waterfront real estate opportunities. Today, she is a Broker Associate with RE/MAX Platinum Realty. Now that the economy and the real estate market is improving, she says she sees a bright future ahead for herself and her colleagues.
