Al made our dreams of owning a home a reality. He came highly recommended from a friend and he stood out amongst the many realtor candidates. He was extremely professional but warm, and spoke to our needs as queer people of color. He is deeply connected to the West Philly community, which made the daunting process of buying a home from across the country in California pleasant, efficient, and as easy as possible. We came in for a two day visit and he lined up 30+ homes for viewing and offered honest guidance and a critical eye when we needed it most. We were able to find the home that fit us best, quickly put in an offer, and get that offer approved with little stress and absolutely no pressure to do what we weren’t ready for. He took care of us every step of the way from offer to close, kept in constant contact, and ensured the post-inspection fixes went smoothly. We can’t recommend Al enough.

When it came to selling my first home, one I had lived in for almost 2 decades, there was just one realtor I wanted to hire - Algernong Allen. Al helped me decide on improvements to make the house appealing to buyers, oversaw those improvement projects, and was an all around positive, calming, and resourceful person to have around. He created more value to the home and priced it higher than I could have imagined. I accepted an offer, over asking price, 48 hours after it hit the market.

I had such a wonderful experience looking for and buying a home with Al, and would highly recommend him as a realtor! The first time we spoke on the phone and met in person, he took the time to listen to and ask about my needs and non-negotiables & about my financial capacity and to share what he knows about the market and industry and home-buying process. He was crucial in helping to walk me through the intimidating process of getting preapproved by pointing me to lenders who were also helpful and generous with their time. We must have looked at over 30-40 homes together over a 1-2 month process, and he was always there to help talk me through the pros/cons of various homes and to accompany me in visiting homes a 3rd, 4th or 5th time before putting in any offers. In the end, Al is the one who found the home that was the perfect fit for me, in a neighborhood where I feel really comfortable and familiar with my community! And throughout the process of closing on the home, negotiating w the sellers, and helping me with last minute mortgage changes, he was really supportive and always in the most positive spirits! I’m so grateful I took my financial advisor’s advice to give Al a call because I was able to buy a home before the rates skyrocketed, and now I have a comfortable, spacious and beautiful home to cherish for the future. If you’re on the fence about realtors to call on, don’t wait, call Al now!

If you are looking for a professional top-notch, no-nonsense realtor Algernong (Al) Allen is the best! Recently I was left with the responsibility of selling my parent's property. Algernong is super friendly and knowledgeable in this industry. This is not a realtor who is inconsistent. At all. Your experience with Al will be friendly and efficient as he gently filters out what you desire in a home without being overbearing. My experience with him had me looking at homes beginning in November 2021 and going to closing in January 2022 (a month and a half?). His communication through the process is excellent. I absolutely recommend him for your home ownership journey!

Algernong helped us to buy our home a few years ago, so when we had an unexpected opportunity to move abroad earlier this year, we knew he would be the best person to help us get it sold. Al was helpful, responsive, and professional throughout the initial stages of making repairs, getting the house ready for showing (in the midst of a pandemic with small kids home 24/7), and getting it listed. Once we relocated he worked closely with us on the entire process of accepting an offer, responding to inspection reports, and closing. Even when some last-minute issue arose he was always on top of every detail, and gave us truly candid and informed advice at every step. I always recommend Al to every person I know who is buying or selling a home in the Philly area. Our family is really grateful to have had the chance to work with hime twice!

Words to describe Al as my agent: courteous, easy to work with, educated, efficient, kind, knowledgeable, nice, professional, refined, and well-mannered. He was always available when I needed to speak to him and always promptly replied. He kept to scheduled dates and times and did what he said that he would do. He educated me on the home buying process and even followed up after to see how I was doing and liked my new home. I met with several other agents beforehand and am happy that I chose Al.

The only suggestion that I can think from the buyer's side is to send a reminder of the exact steps that need to be taken on the date of settlement. Clients like me can be forgetful. Otherwise, I can't think of anything else.
