About Ann Carter
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, I know firsthand what makes this city such a special place to call home. I've had the privilege of witnessing Richmond balance growth and preservation over the years. As the city has evolved, so has its real estate market. Whether you're a first-time homebuyer, a luxury buyer or seller, an investor, or relocating to the area, I'm passionate about helping my clients navigate this process with confidence.
As a REALTOR® working with both buyers and sellers, I bring a well-rounded perspective to today's competitive market. Representing buyers gives me valuable insight into what today's home shoppers are looking for, while my experience working with sellers helps me strategically position homes for success. The Richmond market is uniquely positioned, meaning it can vary greatly from generalized real estate headlines across the country. I believe in being honest and realistic when it comes to pricing, preparation, timing, and marketing strategy. I work closely with my clients to create a plan that maximizes their opportunities and delivers strong results. Being part of the Sotheby’s International Realty network connects me to a distinguished group of real estate professionals across the country, enhancing the service and expertise I offer my clients. This creates a seamless experience whether they're moving across town, looking for a vacation home, or truly relocating.
My appreciation for homes extends beyond real estate. I serve on the Junior Board of the Historic Richmond Foundation, where I have participated in surveying historic easements throughout the city. My passion for architectural and historic preservation has given me a unique perspective on the character, value, and potential of homes—whether they're centuries old or newly built.
Before transitioning into residential real estate, I worked in commercial real estate research and consulting, mainly with individual-owners in the multifamily residential market. This experience strengthened my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of real estate from both an investment and an ownership perspective. I also bring a creative background to my work. As a long time ceramist, I have a keen eye for design and detail. I understand that finding the right home often starts with a vision. One of my main goals is helping clients see potential, while also guiding them through every step of the process with empathy, creativity, and support.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll likely find me cheering on my alma mater, Clemson (Go Tigers!), working in the studio, exploring Richmond's incredible restaurant scene, or spending time with friends, my wonderful husband, and our rescue tortoiseshell cat, Chianti (Kiki). I'm a strong believer in supporting local businesses both personally and professionally, whether it be craftsmen, animal rescue organizations, or the vibrant communities that make Richmond such a unique place to live.
Whether you're buying, selling, investing, or relocating, I'm committed to being a resource for my clients long after the closing table. Let’s get you home!
